Just about everyone you know to shave the hair off some part of their body and do so regularly and I’m guessing you’ve realised that razor cartridges are one of the most expensive products on the face of the Earth. It’s almost as if the companies that make them are off digging up Middle Earth or extracting it from the bones of some mythical creature to find the metal for their razor blades. You know somethings not right when supermarkets have to lock up razor cartridges in those little plastic boxes that seem to confuse even the most intelligent person. If the good shavers of the world are resorting to theft of these insanely overpriced necessities or are at least thinking about it, then something in the industry has to change, and someone has to lead the charge.
That’s where Dollar Shave Club comes in. A subscription package where you get razors and cartridges right to your door. It’s not a bad way to come in either.
A simple yet stylish arrived but as it said on the side ‘You’re about to form a very good habit’ and they’re right.
First impressions of the razor itself are good. It feels quite heavy which would put some people off but I think it gives it a premium feel and it looks smart too. I got some other stuff too.
The Shave Part.
Now I’ve let my beard grow for quite some time. When I say quite some time, I mean three days or so. I prefer to be cleanly shaven over having a beard and I’ve always a fan of a more traditional shave rather than electric shaver which always seem to irritate my skin more than anything. So the challenge I set the razor was to see how closely it could get the shave. Like I said early I haven’t shave for a few days to I know razor was tested properly.
With the six stainless steel blade system, they have it took the hair straight off and in no time my face was lovely and smooth. It did get clogged up with hair like some of the disposable blades I used in the past, which made the whole job much quicker and easier. The blades clip on and off the razor so you can keep them out of the reach of little hands if you wanted too.
The Sh*t and Shower Bit.
The other products included in the trial kit were.
- Dr Carver’s Easy Shave Butter 28g (Travel)
- Wanderer Calming Amber Lavender Body Cleanser 30ml (Travel)
- 3 x Peppermint Scent One Wipe Charlies
Would I make any changes at all? As it’s a subscription package maybe it could have included some shaving balm or foam, like a travel size version, but that’s just my preference so I’m not moaning really.
All in all, a great experience. The box included some extra blade too, so I’m good for a while. I’d definitely recommend the Dollar Shave Club!
*This post, even though it was sponsored by Dollar Shave Club, it is my honest opinion. Hope you enjoyed it!*
